A sad day indeed. Nothing like waking up at 6pm after 16 hours of sleep to a slew of voicemails and text messages and the fourth one I read is from a friend informing me of Hopper's passing. I would've stayed in bed the rest of the day, even though it was already the evening, and watched a few films featuring Mr. Hopper.

Of all the Hopper films that come to mind, I'd recommend people check out Red Rock West as something off the beaten path of recommendations. I haven't seen it come up on many obit's so far, but it's quite enjoyable.

our local arty farty cinema is doing a tribute to him this month - i might try and go see apocalypse now redux on sunday.

did anyone watch the recent tv show "crash"? based on the 2004 movie (not the '90s one about people with a sexual fetish for vehicular accident victims...) - none of the same characters etc but similar themes. dennis hopper had a starring role, think it was about the last thing he did, and he was very good in it.
