I just came across this (http://cgi.ebay.nl/UNDERWORLD-SCRIBBLE-NEW-UPFRONT-3-TRACK-CD-PROMO-/320539403900) promo single of Scribble on eBay. It looks pretty legitimate with the Cooking Vinyl-logo pressed on the CDr. Although I was tempted at first, since I'm dying to hear a clean full version of Scribble, I'm not willing to pay that much money for something that will not be worth more then 10% of its current vallue. The tracklisting gives:
Edit
Full Version
InstrumentalNice to see that there is an instrumental version on it as well. Good luck for the ones that are going to bid on it. (I know some of you are willing to pay that kind of money for a promo... I did it in the past, but this time I'm waiting for the full/official/cheaper release ;))

i went to the listing to actually buy the thing, but WAT? 43dollars?? plus shipping?

i'll pass, it's less than a month away from the release of a nicely packaged single.

wonder if the Instrumental version is more in the vein of "You Do Scribble"? Though we have many fine live versions, a clean studio version would still be appreciated...

I'd expect it to be more or less the same as the regular version but minus the vocals.

This afternoon it had a Buy Now option for that amount, which was way too much IMO..!

yup, there was a buy it now option... but it seems that it was eliminated in favor of the bidding system.

For non-fixed price auctions, Buy It Now is only available when there are no bids on an item (unless the item has a reserve that hasn't been met). After the first bid has been placed, the Buy It Now option disappears.

i just bought the single for around half the price of the original bid. now, if the thing shows up before the official single...

i was lurking the 'buy it now' listing since dwarfed found the scribble promos. the seller posted it after the first one ended. so there, happy to have it.

hope it arrives soon. probably i'll post some stuff when it comes home :)

I'm a bit jealous now I see that laying there in front of you..

Does the promo sheet have any new interesting info?
I'm a bit curious about the formats Scribble will be released in. I guess there won't be a cd-single, so that would mean just vinyl (I love to see a 7"..) and digital. Or is this info already out there?

TheBang

I've been told that there will be a 12" and CD release for this single (and digital, of course).

i can scan the paper when i'm back home. yesterday i was meant to scan it, but my pup wanted to play... it's a press release, the same one as the one in u/wlive. it mentions that the single release will be the 28th of june, as well as release formats and... not so much.

listening to the full version in cd is... delicious.

edit: in the full version of the pic is possible to read what the paper says ;)

The Netsky remix is on its way to being one of the worst Underworld remixes I have ever heard. Its just juvenile. If i wanted computer game music, i'd fire up the commodore 64 emulator. additionally, its just not very well done, its lobotomized, the beat. i like the instrumental mix though. pretty decent!

BrotherLovesDub
06-16-2010, 10:36 AM
You are so wrong about the Netsky remix being one of the worst. It's not bad at all, just not as good as the original. Tons of stinkers in the Underworld remix box that radiate stench more than Netsky's effort.

press release: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh182/vectorweapon/scribblepressrelease.jpg

full length is probably the best way to appreciate scribble. i was, maybe, TOO used to the radio edit before listening to the full version and some places seem somewhat empty, but that's just me. today, headphones on, little synth stabs were everywhere and the emptyness disappeared. radio edit is way too short, too fast and too propulsive compared with the full length. the complete version progresses more coherently and less agressively and, at the end, feels more blissey.

ey ey ey lol.

the instrumental is nothing more than scribble without lyrics (no difference with the full version, same length), but this version feels more like the original you do scribble and, while karl's and juanita's vocals are missing, those synths stabs are everywhere and fill the spaces in a good way. a warm blanket track.

one thing is sure: scribble has the best intro and ending since juanita/kiteless/to dream of love. the sounds make my ears tingle.

i've only listened to a part of netsky's remix, while it started weird (holy shit, is that a cheesetrance intro?), afterwards got weirder. not my cup of tea, but better than that fake blood ring road remix (barf).

the only difference is, the LP version includes the bit that's going to join Scribble to Hamburg Hotel, the instrumental ends 30secs earlier

that annoying sound that starts at about 1:30...:(

It reminded me of the music for The Legend of Zelda - N64 style... very 8 bit - I actually don't mind it - it has a very retro feel. If you don't like video game music, then I can see why you'd hate it.

I now want to draw my sword and take some rupees!!! hahaha!!! :D

boy was I excited to find my physical copy in the mail when I got home from work yesterday on the 28th! no "PROMO" stamp or anything to indicate it as such. the cardboard sleeve is pretty flimsy, but I do love the artwork - the disc is pretty cool looking too... very neon 80's retro feel to it...
