Cool, he said he's premiering a new Pendulum track too!

Someone rip and rapidshare this show (or at least the UW track). My "VideoDownloadHelper" app for Firefox doesn't work for all streams it seems. :(

New Pendulum track is slightly differently tweaked and much clearer version of "The Island".

Oh fuck yeah, this is much better! I want my money back for the radio hack/chop mix motherfuckers!:D:p

It's got all of my favorite parts of the original added back in. The breakdown still sounds a bit drunk and sloggish now compared to the sharp and automated YDS, and the shrill stabs don't help the track much (or on Beautiful Burnout either for that matter....trance stabs just suck ass in general).

ThingInABook

TONGY SHUT UP! :P

anyway i just arrived home... anyone recording?

agreed. 2 seconds in i was like THERE'S YDS! barely any evidence of it in the edit.

Ok, let me put my review cap on:

Underworld have landed just in time with their summer to be anthem "You Do Scribble". A feel good drum & bass track showing that the lords of the dance still have tricks in their sleeves to show the youngsters how its donw. Your feet will be married to the dancefloor when it drops.

the mongoose

The weirdest thing in the world is how everyone kneejerks with each new Underworld release, and it takes about 8 good listens of any UW song to "sink in" or "click" with your brain. I've actually not liked any of UW's albums all the way through on first listen. It's almost like you have to build up a musical immunity to it or something.

Remember the first time you heard JAL to Tokyo vocals?;)

Usually a few hours after broadcast. Unsure on genre specific shows. But yer it'll be there.

Won't this be available for d/l soon anyway?

Glad to hear it is great! Btw Mongoose it really isn't that way for everyone...most UW tracks only took me one or two listens to really like, I remember the original YDS as giving me a real rush the first listen, like it was the greatest thing I ever heard. Their music was never really that cyptic to me.

Dunwho
05-14-2010, 03:06 PM
the start is more like the original YDS.... very happy about that... its a pity the stabs have to come in but they will grow... and in fairness its the new main part of the song. I guess they were looking for that .NUXX effect with the anthem sound...

they got it i suppose. itll grow

while i still i'm shocked (in a good way) with the radio edit, i love what i heard now. feels less cramped, less rushed and more intense.

i demand a download for the full version. no, i need it.

thanks again BLD.

My jury's still out on the new sonic direction, but the full-length version of "Scribble" is so, so much better than that dubious radio edit. What YDS elements are there have more room to breathe and the song as a whole benefits from the larger, more epic structure. I still find myself missing the original YDS but I'm trying to put my head in the space of someone who's never heard it.

Thanks, BLD!

Have to say...THAT sounds like Underworld.

A totally different experience to the edit...and really does justice to the live YDS we have been enjoying for years.

Lucky Tongy having the album to enjoy. Wonder when we'll get news of release date and title...

thanks for the links, all!

YDS was one of my favorite live tunes of the last few years.. couldn't get into the radio edit, but this full album version is quite nice.

This song, it's okaaaaaaay. No, I love it. Like most people, took a half dozen listens to the radio edit before I couldn't get it out of my head (in the good way). But loving the album version much better. Wish I could have bought that version instead, but never upset about throwing some cash their way. I can't wait to get the new album on vinyl.

oh gawd i was listening to this and i visited my flickr page and was scrolling through the set of photos of my boys and the refrain "and it's okay, you give me everything i need" kept repeating and i swear to god i choked up a little.

i realize i just outed myself as the lamest sap in the world but it sort of clinched the song for me.
