It's almost here:
We've been a bit quiet lately haven't we but don't worry we've been working our (underworld) socks off!
We're not allowed to tell you about all the exciting things we're working on right now but can certainly let one cat out of the bag, there is a new underworldlive website coming online very very soon and we'd like to invite you to take an advance pre-launch look around at the new site.
Have a play around and send us your feedback - as we're all about giving and receiving, if you do this we will send you a code which will enable you to download an exclusive free track!
Check it out at http://beta.underworldlive.com/
If you send feedback on the new site to doncontento@underworldlive.com, you'll receive an e-mail within an hour or so with a code for a free download of Dark & Long (2010 Lemonworld Jam).
Some highlights on the new site that I've gleaned:
Everything's in a database now. Try searching for something using the "Search" field in the upper-right. You can find stuff in the store, old diary entries, etc.
From the Shop: While the clever-code types have been beavering away, we’ve been working on a new range of clothing and accessories. We plan to bring the "Clothing & Accessories" department online with the first new products in April 2010 :)
Also in the shop: RiverRun EP's available in lossless WAV for the audiophiles. There doesn't appear to be any discount or upgrade option for previous purchasers. :(
Also, the RiverRun singles are available to purchase by individual track. Previously, the only way to get the Vanilla Monkey and Play Pig unmixed versions in digital lossless format was to buy the whole single bundle from uwlive.com.
From the My Account section: In addition, you should see all the book of jam's in the download section below, and we'll be adding to these more frequently again now we're back up and running.

Very nice upgrade of the site, i very much like the media player and how can navigate it.
And the "free track" you get for your feedbeck is sweet, not new material, but a nice jam.
And it's 320kps MP3.

If you hear something you want to buy, then you’re only one click away from being able to do so, from us, direct. - God Bless!!!
and the media player is awesome!
Techno, Love and Peace - couldn´t say it better :)
The site a bit messy though... I liked that old "Spartan" style in a way

The media player is a nice touch. It's nice to listen to tracks while I'm at the library waiting for class to start. The clothing/merchandise section definitely sounds interesting. I'm excited to say the least :D

Is anyone else NOT seeing previously-purchased items available for re-download?
Specifically the "I'm a Big Sister..." RiverRun isn't shown in my list, even though I most certainly bought it. The rest are shown.
Just trying to grab the higher-quality .mp3, but don't want to bug the shop team yet if it's a global issue.
/edit just noticed that Vanilla Monkey and Lovely Broken Thing are both listed twice in my purchases

Yeah, couldn't get logged in with my old account - no problem, just reregistered (the old account only had the 4 RiverRuns in it, which i'd downloaded and burned several times).
Looking forward to the new layout and products, not to mention the new D&L mix :)

Maybe read the first post on this thread, or the directions at the site, not too hard :p
Nice new mix - harkens back to the classic Dark and Long EP versions- very different from the original until >5 minutes in. Awesome guitar, too.
But does anyone else have their track cut out at 6:05? Full length says 6:13, but it's quite an abrupt end... ?

SO SECONDED.
and of the projects, like Abandoned (i kinow there's an archive somewhere, but i think it's worthy enough of being in the site). also, the blog entries have an expiry date and will get erased after one or two years. how about a place to keep them as an archive? they're fun to read nontheless.

Actually, since they instituted the archive, nothing's been deleted, and it's been building since then. Now that the diaries are in a database, they're even easier to search.
All the v.3 diaries from July 2007 - May 2008 are unfortunately missing though. Also, the zip archives of diaries from the v.2 site (pre-July 2007) are not currently posted anywhere.

Just noticed there's a whole gallery of new Karl paintings on the new site:
http://beta.underworldlive.com/art/galleryart.asp?artist=Karl Hyde&year=2010
(Also, those of you lamenting the loss of some of Karl's diary entries, ever think of punching "www.underworldlive.com (http://www.underworldlive.com)" into the Wayback machine at www.archive.org (http://www.archive.org)? )

thanks thebang and champiness for the archive infos and tips ;) . i wonder if there's a way to keep everything related to diaries and images inside the site, instead of going somewhere else.
also, i would love to actually see the galleries and not miss them because i didn't saw the menu. i discovered the video section, like, a month ago. and there's tons of 'hidden content' accesible via search engine.

ThingInABook
04-28-2010, 02:52 PM
mmm... they're not as interesting as you might think... there's some 'deleted' content from the site, which wasn't properly cleaned (as erased via FTP), it's just that the URLs are not accesible from anywhere in the site, but if you use google, for example, to search for the live albums of the OwB tour, you'll get to the section with the photos and the explanation of the gigs. i wasn't around for the first leg of the tour, so i missed most of the fun and i found that content browsing via google this year.

rehearsing grooves old & new - the playlist swells to ’72.
"Diamond Jigsaw" and "Between Stars" are songs #66 and #67 (as seen here (http://www.aloha.com/~tabanger/underworld/lvsetlist.jpg)), respectively, so we've probably got 5 new live songs (or possibly some old ones in there that hadn't been sequenced yet).
I had hoped that they would have added more songs to the live lineup by now (specifically, re-adding a lot of the older ones), but I guess we'll see what the live shows look like in a couple weeks.

I actually frequently run wires under my shirt when I'm running - this little button hole is a brilliant little addition for that sort of thing.
I'm sure there are people who do the same just while walking - specially if you layer shirts. I don't think I'll use it all the time, but I definitely see merit...

Urgh...last April I purchased lossless (CD quality WAV) versions of the Riverrun suite. A month or so ago I discovered that all of my copies of the I'm a Big Girl WAV file I downloaded are truncated, missing most of Wedge and all of 11 Hundred Hz. :(
I tried using the purchase code to re-download the file. ("Sorry, that purchase code is not recognised".)
I repeatedly tried contacting Digital Animal, as indicated on the underworldlive.com site. (No answer.)
I tried emailing sales@underworldlive.com, which finally resulted in a response, from Anis:
Im so sorry you have not received your order yet. The Lemonworld elves have packed it up and it is now in the post winging its way to you now.
You will receive it soon! Unfortunately there was been mail strikes across europe which has delayed a lot of orders.I guess this could possibly mean they're snail mailing me a physical CD copy of the music, but that seems extremely unlikely, particularly since my shipping address was not entered as part of the order.
So...can anyone help me dig up a complete copy of the I'm a Big Sister WAV file? Even a copy of the last 100MB (or whatever, my file is 237MB) and the exact size of the file would do it, as I can splice the files together if needed.

I did email sales@underworldlive.com back immediately to that effect, and got no answer. :|
I've been patient -- it's been weeks since I first contacted them about this, I've tried the re-download function on the web site and emailed both underworldlive and Digital Animal repeatedly, and the only response of any kind was a single canned email that made it painfully evident they hadn't actually read any of my queries -- now I'm hoping someone else in the community also purchased the lossless version of I'm a Big Sister and can help me straighten this out, since going through official channels appears futile.

I've been finding that rather ominous as well. Three times it's been mentioned. At first, I thought it meant they weren't going to do non-UK tours any time soon. But now that it's been said for a UK show, it's as if they're not going to tour for a long time, period.

you know... UW are kinda deserving of a "Deluxe Edition" of a few of their albums (I mean, 93, 96, 99 were quite some time ago), here's hoping that if they take time off... maybe they'll do a few of those releases?

ok I confess, I realised it first when I saw the picture of today that I did it.
I mean stepped outside in the cold clean air & made a mark in the snow. I had a piece of bread left that I usually throw away but this time I just couldn´t do it. It´s -10 degrees out there for God´s sake! & they said it will be even more during the next few days.
So I gave it to the birds.
Yes, that was the first thing that came into my head this morning while I was cooking my breakfast.:)
It´s very very dark here at this time of the year...
http://www.borndirty.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=2&pictureid=90
Gosh! I wish you could see that crystal-clear day this morning and that rainbow veiled haze that welcomed us as I came closer to the city. I was pretty close to grab my cellphone and start recording it while MJ was singing the "You are not alone" so sweetly out of my stereo but "me no crash anymore" and thought "and who cares about my recordings anyway" so I just let it be.
You know, I really don´t give a damn anymore if people believe me or not. I just don´t give a damn.

Seasons greetings from sunny (read: freezing) Essex. Here’s hoping you’re ready for an intense period of over-indulgence and excess TV watching. Wanted to give a quick end-of-year round up and point you in the direction of a few things you may be interested in…
First of all, we wanted to thank everyone who has bought the album, the singles, gig tickets, t-shirts, whatever-Underworld-related-thing this year. We couldn’t survive without you so its massively appreciated, as always. We owe you a beer/coffee/tipple of your choice. In lieu of said drink offer, Underworld will be offering an exclusive free download on Christmas Day. Visit the site (http://www.reverbnation.com/c/fan_reach/pt?eid=A824004_6711113_27721688&url=http://www.underworldlive.com) and log in to your account (or sign up) for details of how to download the track.
Also, if you’re thinking of buying more from us – a fine thought – orders received on or after 20th December may not be dispatched until the New Year. T-shirts, as worn by the band, are unavailable anywhere else and are perfect for anyone either planning escape from the British weather (equally good for those dreaming of escape).

A few bits of news about Underworld activity in 2011…
We’re all ridiculously excited about remixing ‘Good Day Today’ by the one and only David Lynch. The mixes will see the light of day digitally on January 24th and on CD and vinyl on January 31st. The legendary Vaughn Oliver has provided the artwork and it’s a thing of extreme beauty.
When the band were in the States back in the Autumn, they recorded and filmed a live session with Jason Bentley for KCRW. It’s going to be aired in January and an interview – we’ll put details on the site as soon as we get a transmission date. Fuji TV also filmed one of the Japanese live shows, we’re hoping to be able to bring you some snippets via the website in the early part of 2011.
Gigs wise, Underworld are currently scheduling in festival appearances for the summer – including a headline show at Sonar in Barcelona. The festival runs from June 16-18 – check their site http://2010.sonar.es/en/noticies.php?id=113&page=1&year (http://www.reverbnation.com/c/fan_reach/pt?eid=A824004_6711113_27721688&url=http://2010.sonar.es/en/noticies.php?id%3D113%26page%3D1%26year%3D)= for more information. More shows will be confirmed early in the New Year.
Finally, Underworld have recently confirmed that they are providing music and sound score for Danny Boyle’s production of Frankenstein which plays at the National Theatre in London between February and April 2011. The play features Sherlock Holmes star Benedict Cumberbatch and Trainspotting’s Jonny Lee Miller who will alternate the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. We’ll be talking a lot more about this in the New Year – rest assured that Rick and Karl are having a lot of fun with Danny and the NT team… this is going to be absolutely brilliant – tickets are available but selling very very fast via the National Theatre’s website https://ticketing.nationaltheatre.org.uk/production.aspx?performanceNumber=16547 (http://www.reverbnation.com/c/fan_reach/pt?eid=A824004_6711113_27721688&url=https://ticketing.nationaltheatre.org.uk/production.aspx?performanceNumber%3D16547)
So, with all that in mind, we’re off until the New Year. Hope you have a truly great Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Love
Underworld and their helpers

That's an interesting story on the genesis of the Lemon Interupt name:
To convince the guys I was the right person for them I offered to release a couple of tracks on my newly formed vinyl only label so they could see what I could do. We choose the name Lemon Interupt so we could kick off the Underworld project fresh when the album deal was signed and I quickly released "Eclipse/Bigmouth" and "Dirty/Minneapolis"

Queen... my first love in music, as a 12 year old kid I had all their albums on Vinyl, 22 years later I still have all these records - treasured pieces of nostalgia from my childhood. To this day I still get shivers listening to all their work, Queen I, II, Shear Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, such an amazing catalogue of music - those guys could rock and break your heart within the time it takes to flip a record.
Great to see my 2 favourite bands in the world referenced right here :)

Was intrigued by Karl's mention yesterday of Johannes Schreiter's Blue Chapel. He'd suggested posting a link if anyone found one, so check out the third photo down: http://www.craftingglass.com/stained-glass/how-awesome-can-glass-art-be
Beautiful space. I imagine it would be even more vibrant and immersive in person.
Here's an article on another set of Schreiter's blue windows:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=johannes%20schreiter%27s%20blue%20chagall%20chap el&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fstainedglassquarterly.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2010%2F01%2F074-SGQ-blue.pdf&ei=TqSfTuvQLeOqsQLimvi1BQ&usg=AFQjCNGNl7kyqmcOsQo4DQh0IzRl2FJB1Q&cad=rja
So was anyone thinking of Schreiter in doing the artwork for Beacoup Fish, I wonder? Or was it Yves Klein or simply the idea of a deep, watery blue? (Not trying to be too literal with this. Just curious.)
Anyway, gorgeous work and I'm grateful to Karl for the introduction.

This part is what really excites me:
Ahead of a flurry of activity in 2012 to mark the twentieth anniversary of their first proper single release, Underworld announce the release of two compilations of singles, rarities and collaborations.
Underworld will announce plans for 2012 in the run up to Christmas.
I have to say I'm looking forward to putting the Barking era behind us.
