View Full Version : It's been TEN YEARS!!!!!

Ok, I was taking a shower this morning... and I was thinking about random stuff...
like how I'm not-so-patiently waiting to hear back from Grad schools (trying to get my MFA in printmaking), and how I started out originally thinking I was going to go into psychology etc etc
then I started to think about 2000/2001 (I graduated High School in '01) and how different I was, and how different technology was...
which then made me think about "Real Player"
then I suddenly realized....
I've been after a track that I've ONLY heard as a Real Player audio file for TEN YEARS -> "Van Halen Rock Guitar Band" or "Live at Cross Border(s) Festival" (I'm not 100% sure of the title)
It was a real player file of Karl doing some spoken word stuff over a few ambient-ish bits. There was a story about a dead rat placed on a picture of a beautiful car, something about the song "Pressure Drop" and a bit about being in a broken down car in the middle of nowhere. Some of the ambient bits were used (much) later in a few of the broadcasts from Lemonworld.
Now... come on - SOMEONE has to have a copy of this! I mean, it was on the OLD-old RTSR webpage
can someone help me out?

oh wow...
So it totally has been ten years of politely asking ...and begging!
but seriously - at least one person here HAS to have the audio from the "Crossing Border Festival" as it was even on the old RTSR!
I vaguely even remember someone (recently) saying how long the audio was...
PLEASE!!!
(edit)
and of course - I've tried the usual routes...

What year was the Crossing Border show? I'll check when I get home as I have hundreds of shows.

I have this. 17:41 long. dead rat and all. What is the best way to distribute?

Yes, please just upload the original file to sendspace.com or mediafire.com. Can you also upload the "Making of" Real video file please?

Ok - I found my "making of" push upstairs Real Player file....
It's not streaming media, but I'm not sure if it'll work.
I couldn't get real player to actually play the file.
I tried VLC but only the audio came through....
http://www.sendspace.com/file/m4l4t6
also - at the end of this youtube clip, there are a few bits of them making the video as well

any chance someone could upload Cross Border????

If you have rare things like this to distribute, then please take a visit to RTSR and upload a torrent. Sendspace is unreliable, and mostly undownloadable due to limits, and expires after 30 days of inactivity.
Any realplayer files can be coverted to other formats very easily.

...but that shouldn't stop you from uploading it here (just for the time being)

THANKS!
I know it's not much of a "song" but man... I'm so glad to finally have a copy of this.
I can vividly remember clicking 'replay' again and again as I was first really getting into UW/Tomato, clicking through all the pages on RTSR, reading through discographies and interviews... all on a slow, dial-up modem
