Finally just now got around to seeing this thanks to Warner Bros' 3 week wait for Netflix and Redbox Blu-ray rentals (fuckers)......but this was a great remake!:cool:

Not going to win any academy awards or anything, but there was some damn fine performances in this film. Great special FX and set design. Not going to replace the original of course, but its a shiny new update of an old tale, and certainly worth a watch. Heard they've got an original sequel brewing now too.

it was fun yes. Not sure about "great special fx" though. Just a lot of CGI stuff, which while looking good enough was hardly anything we haven't seen a bazillion times before by now.
It was definitely better than the original though (which, despite the charm of the stop motion fx, was embarassingly cheesy. Yeah ok I didn't see it as a kid, I watched it just before seeing the new one)

Pictures and Legendary. Liebesman will shoot the sequel in 3D instead of having it added during post-production.

The first film, made for about $125 million, has earned $491.9 million worldwide.

Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=38858)), Dan Mazeau (The Flash, Jonny Quest (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=54426)) and David Leslie Johnson, writer of next year's Red Riding Hood (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=57748) worked together on the treatment, with Mazeau and Johnson now writing the script.

Heat Vision adds that Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are among the actors expected to return for the second installment.
