I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.-Douglas Adams (RIP)

and when the deadline is... unannounced?
or when you were wondering who was going to send the stuff to the publisher and then you realise that nobody sent anything? and today was the deadline?
ooh. crap.

self-imposed deadlines are your own way of controlling the adrenaline-release process necesserary for you to produce the kick-ass stuff that makes your work unique. whatever that may be.
pressure pays in such circumstances; and lets you feel alive.

I love that one. :D
But me, I hate deadlines. I'm fairly self-disciplined I suppose (in fact I stick so rigidly to my daily checklists that I think it borders on mental illness) but there's few things worse than struggling to be creative against a looming deadline. That blankness. eugh.

Oh, and constant access to the internet is not always good.

...why do i always work to one... why oh why?
Because, like me you are RSULTS FOCUSED......the only way to be:), because at the end of the day if you don't have results you just a have stuff.....paper wings...rattling...in the wind....homeless tress gathering outside your window bootleg babies calling to you...lying among the mosquitoes and summers fever coming..cats are gathering outside your window.............:D

i was fortunate enough to meet douglas adams once back in the late 90's (1998?)
at a electronic gaming convention in LA,..
he was very tall..
also, he was releasing his 'starship titanic' video game..
so i got an autographed copy of that.. and he autographed
some novels, and also my laserdisc of 'hitchhikers' guide.
we talked for about 10 minutes about the books, and the
movie (which was still in development)...
he was one of the nicest, friendliest, and funniest persons
i've ever met..
i really miss his works...

'dont panic'Me so envious. You mean that movie, that "must be coming any decade now?" :D
I would have loved to meet him in person. I've always found his misanthropic, satirical social criticism to be strangely sad and uplifting at the same time. He truely is my most cherished writer.
