some new and inventive movies must be coming soon...

Avatar is a must (but thats ages away), but what else is coming to get us excited???

maybe Up (not yet out here)

and Sherlock Holmes

possibly Alice in Wonderland

i suppose summer blockbuster season is not a time to expect decent exciting 'new' idea movies to be released

i'm certainly not excited about the recent 'comic' / 'action figure' movies being released at the mo...

I really loved 'Up'. I waited too long to see it in 3-D. Ed Asner was a great choice for the old man.

these mainly. which is more movies than i've wanted to see in theatres for a long time.

also GI Joe with a group of friends on the last showing because no one will be there and we can heckle it all we want

possibly Alice in WonderlandGiven Tim Burton's track record, I wouldn't count on much. I'm sure it'll be visually stunning, but as far as I've been hearing, it's typical Tim Burton crap story-telling.

so I had this theory a while back during the writers' strike:

that b/c of the time spent 'away' many movies / programs that come out in the year or two following it (more often than not) will be total crap

I'm thinking we're in that period now.

Avatar?

I dont know what movies you are going to, as this seems to be the best summer for movies in ages.

District 9
Inglorious Basterds
500 Days of Summer
Brothers Bloom
The Hangover

Give me one year in the past twenty that had 5 four star movies released between memorial day and labor day.

At first I was a bit turned off with the idea, but this looks promising.

Also, Cusack's in it which I'm more than certain makes it a sure win.

BTW if it ends up completely sucking, I hated Independence Day & The Day After Tomorrow(or whatever the hell it was titled), it'll be a first for Cusack.
