how many of you have a good sense of balance?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sense_of_balance
i've become something of an amateur otologist lately. i hypothesize that the world is so fucked up because most people have terrible balance (and because of that bad posture). i hypothesize that if everyone had a good sense of balance like a normal human animal should then the imbalance of chemicals in the brain wouldn't exist and there would be much less mental problems in the world. maybe even less war?

I have serious balance problems at the moment because I had an ear infection which resulted in me getting some kind of virus in my inner ear which has left me feeling effectively sea-sick when I get up in the morning, and various attacks of dizziness during the day too.
I have travel-sickness pills to address it and just have to wait until it goes away as there doesn't seem to be any way of treating the actual problem itself.
And I have noticed that I am far grumpier these past few weeks since I had it, too... so maybe there is something in what you say, Caprice.

i had to look up what otology was.
Otology is a branch of biomedicine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biomedicine) which studies normal and pathological (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathology) anatomy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatomy) and physiology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physiology) of the ear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ear) (hearing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_%28sense%29) and vestibular (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vestibular_system) sensory systems (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensory_system) and related structures and functions) as well as its diseases (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disease), diagnosis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diagnosis) and treatment.

you sure that's not a blockage? i had one and got seasick at work, and grumpy because i was hearing everything at the same level and couldn't filter sound
if so; don't use drops from the chemist - heat olive oil to body temperature and use that instead - works an absolute treat in a couple of days.:)

I plan on getting one of these soon because I believe balance is a sense that needs to be exercised everyday in order to maintain.
I'm currently reading a book on balance http://www.amazon.com/Balance-Search-Sense-Scott-McCredie/dp/0316011355
It's alright in teaching me the mechanics of how balance works. But he specifies examples like what happened to you BeautifulBurnout. It happens to a number of people that way too.

Thanks for that also - very interesting.
I wonder if my Wii Fit might help? :)

I need to thank Caprice too now. You're like a monk or something!
I think I know someone who needs to be treated for this. I've just read the symptoms and it fits what's been described by a close friend. Although balance has not been a problem, everything else fits.
