Rick and Karl have been crediting Donna Summer for years for the bassline they use in King of Snake. Well, take a listen to this!

http://www.esnips.com/doc/f56783c8-b874-4aa6-8410-db6feb3ae04a/Abelardo-Carbono-Katerine

Recognize the bassline? It's Abelardo Carbono from Columbia with a track called "Muevela" (not "Katerine" as listed on the link) on Felito records. I don't know which year it was released, but I'm guessing that it pre-dates Donna Summer. (Incidentally, this record is really, really hard to find and I would do anything to get my hands on it).

So, Rick and Karl, it's time to update your credits!

Also, Michael Jackson is dead. You hear me; dead.

georgio was only credited because the american record company got cold feet about the bassline and its similarity to "i feel love" and decided it needed to credit him so that there would be no problems affecting the release.at the time georgio was taking a number of people to court claiming they were ripping him off and even though the bassline is hardly original "i feel love" is the first time (???) that it was heard in a totally electronic track.

fucking excellent trivia...

KOS is pretty hard to mix into I Feel Loved as its tempo changes all over the place

didn't the Ashley Beedle remix used a bit more of the DS track in its remix???? i'll go back and check... the epic Patrick Cowely remix of I Feel Loved is one of my favourite disco tracks...

Not to mention there are pitch shifts all over the place too!

I would definitely be interested to get my hands on that track - I've always considered "I Feel Love" to be like, THE defining electronic track of the 70's, so if it came from somewhere else that's big news to me

its not like georgio copied it from anywhere, its just a bog standard bassline that you can find on loads of piece's of music if you listen.

Pretty hard to say a 3-note arpeggiated Moog bassline is anyone's unique creation, seeing as it's the basis of a ton of dance tracks. "I feel love" is a great disco track and obviously influenced many, buuuut, i don't really hear it in KoS, except maybe as an homage to that sort of simple, driving melody. Awfully generous of the UW boys to share the credit. Yes, it's a similar sound, but not the same rhythm. A great synth bass sound - UW uses a similar sound on MoMove and Dinosaur Adventure 3D.

I heard that Georgio was credited because UW actually sampled I Feel Love for King of Snake.

Then again, I may well have heard wrong...
