I dunno, there is sumtin to be said about the "wait".
If we have it all the time, then itll just be too much. I like the ritual of turning on the computer, checkin my email, ooo maybe ill see what Karl has for us today! ... and then thinkin what might come tomorrow. Also i think with posts like todays (19th June) you cant realy get that in 140 words or less.
Its like everything these days, just too much goin on... we need to learn how to take our time again!!!
Say no to twitter!!! haha

Karl's UWlive updates are also a way of driving more traffic to the site. Twitter would take a lot of that away. Karl already has a way of expressing what he wants on the UWlive site and I think he needs way more than 140 chars to do it! however, Twitter could be used in turn to drive more traffic to the site I suppose.

i'd still like to know if KH was on the train to Romford - at that exact time, or that KH was just about to go on stage - that's the fun of band related twits they post when they're about to do / or are doing exciting stuff
KH - just boarding a plane to tokyo
etc
Karl takes millions of pictures i'm sure he could snap and post on twitter...
he may not be wanting to do it, i just thought it's suited to Mr Hyde's communications styles

It doesn't have to be just like his diary entries.
UW has been mostly echoing UWLive posts on Facebook recently.

Okay well there it is, another medium to use. I hope its used in a creative manner. Twitpic / videos and links to uwlive posts at least. At the moment I have to actively go to uwlive and sometimes i forget. This is a push message to my twitter account so thats gotta be a plus.

At first, I thought it was a John Warwicker piece, but looking at it now I think it's by Mr. Hyde.

Karl: I hope you know what youre getting yourself into. If you're not careful it could reach Stephen Fry proportions...Couldn't you have told me before? People, I warn you, Twitter is almost as evil as the rest of the Internet (most of which I have ploughed through by now). If you have a job or anything elso to use your time on, don't start twittering; it should only be touched by the strong-willed.

It was to my dismay that I discovered the Twitter links on the home page.
Can't you see? Twitter is silly. No, I mean really silly - within two years it will be the object of ridicule. Come on boys! Surely you have enough creative outlets and enough need of "personal space" to prevent you from seeking forms of "expression" ( in reality boring everyone with the mundane and the trivial) favoured by little girls?
You have gone down in my estimation, which is not good, because I really really like what you do.

It's called Twitter for a reason...
It's retarded to want to share with everyone what you had for breakfast.
It's why children make poor converstionalists over long periods ( they don't how to filter whats interesting from what people don't want or need to hear) Indeed they tend to twitter which is sweet but...
Twitter ( The online version) is dangerous because it fills up our time with the mundane and the ordinary which masquerade as the profound. Something like Ring Road on the other hand is a powerful work of art because it elevates the mundane and the ordinary and draws our attention to its hidden beauty through the mix of: spoken words, music, a cohesive creative idea (a journey around a town) and a time limit!
I don't buy Twitter as a "sketch pad" either. A sketch pad needs to be intimate to be a real testing ground of ideas for the artist - full of stuff he or she wouldn't normally want people to see.
Having written all of the above I don't deny any one the right to Twitter or question the enjoyment it provides. Just like I have a McDonalds around once a month and enjoy it greatly - I enjoy it even more by not fooling mysef it's Haute Cuisine.

Er, not sure what you mean?
But on a more constructive note.
Wouldn't Twitter be a great idea for a song?
The stuff of Twitter I mean:
Disjointed sentences, several repetitive overlapping musical voices, words about everyday things.
Ideal for UW.

Well there you go, out of something mundane as twitter grows a perfect idea for an interesting piece of music. That's what it's all about right? Exploring, observing, trying out new things, getting inspired by them.
Indeed twitter can be boring, when looked at it from one angle. Yet that's not the only thing it can be. Broaden your view ;)!

Unless it's a friend I know in "real life," I don't follow people on Twitter nor use it myself for updates on dining habits or complaining about being tired. I think it's grown away from such a purpose and can be something valuable, particularly in the information department (I find out about world events quicker on Twitter than I do perusing online news sites). Also, I think a lot of people do not abide by shorthand or texting shortcuts to post there and instead write in complete sentences, despite the character limit (I've noticed some people will make three posts in a row to convey a thought in an eloquent manner). But like most social networks, it really depends on who you are interacting with that will form a negative or positive opinion of a place. I mean, I definitely don't go browsing on Twitter for random things. If I did, I'm sure I would then have boywithjavelin's view that's it's useless and filled with spambots or people who can't type.
In Underworld's case, I love it since the Twitter posts are like a shortened version of the Underworldlive posts. I'm not saying it's better than Underworldlive (those have them pretty pictures!). I'm just saying it's useful for when one does not happen to have computer access and needs an instant fix of Karl or Rick's musings. Like what stimpee mentioned: it's easy to look at on a mobile device (hooray for apps).

Sorry, I don't know what you mean. Do you mean, am I sure it's Karl or Rick? Or that they don't have musings? Or that I don't need an instant fix? Because I always need an instant fix of musings. And if it happens to be by Karl or Rick, then I'm happily satiated.

I do enjoy hearing about Karl meeting with Eno to review the Pure Scenius recordings or about Rick working on Diamond Jigsaw. It's an interesting window into the Process, and the Underworld feeds are relatively free of the mundane, cake and supermodels aside. Are supermodels mundane?

Changes afoot in Twitter-land. Karl gets his own feed (http://twitter.com/theboyhyde). And abandons (http://twitter.com/theboyhyde/status/5108450947) the Underworld feed (http://twitter.com/underworldlive/status/5102835720)?
So what happens to the Underworld feed? Is the experiment over? I hope they don't just change it into some lame marketing announcements feed or something like that. Karl's lyrical musings are part of what makes Underworld Underworld, and I thought that was represented nicely in the Underworld Twitter.
