Re: Need some horror movie suggestions...
Let Me In - Great remake of the equally great "Let the Right One In". The less you know about the movie, the more you will enjoy it.
Antichrist - Not a feel good movie by any means....this could I guess be described somewhat like a cross between Misery and Pet Semetary. Final Destination 5 - Treading close to slasher movie territory, but still have to recommend this for being one of the most creative, fun, and shocking movies to wear a number after its name. The ending really seals the deal. Fright Night 3D - Not a replacement for the original with Roddy Mcdowall...but a nice parallel universe retelling of the vampire next door story. Great effects, acting, and a few jolts to keep the heartrate up is why you should give it a shot. REC - Spanish film that was also developed into an inferior English version called "Quarantine". The original version is much better, and is a very wild ride into an infected apartment building through the shaky cam lens of those trapped inside.

Re: Need some horror movie suggestions...
I've seen
let the right one in: liked it a lot Antichrist: not a good von triers movie...and I love von triers the first act was tremendous...last three were gawd awful. Going to see melencholia sunday... Have you seen dogville? Masterpiece! Rec: saw it this weekend on streaming vudu... Didn't think much of it...English dub ruined it possibly so I won't pan it out right. was thinking about fright night. I remember loving the original but remember none of the plot. |

Re: Need some horror movie suggestions...
A few I watched this weeked
28 Days Later - Revisit this even if you've already seen. It's about these living dead people who bust into you home or where ever you are and spit and spew their shit all around and drag an entire nation to hell. HMMMMMM. Flatliners - and the bag lady philosopher sums it all up with "Because, in the end, we all know what we've done." Choice, like meat. And Robert's character says something about with-holding information. Dragonfly - Not really a horror, but kinda makes ya wonder.

Re: Need some horror movie suggestions...
Well these aren't slasher films as such, but I'm assuming some squeamish sequences are ok? If so...
Eyes Without A Face (1960) Beautiful and unsettling. Audition (1999) How fucked up was this... I love Japanese horrors. The RIng, Ju On, One Missed Call (and their sequels) all wonderfully disturbing. The Haunting (1963) Just plain spooky. Salem's Lot (1979) This aired here in the UK as a mini-series I think. I remember a sequence involving these floating demons outside a kid's bedroom window that'll stay with me for as long as I live. And I have a soft spot for hammy 60s/70s Hammer/Poe stuff with Vincent Price, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Sorry they're all oldies. I'm a bit stuck in the past these days. @jOHN 28 Days Later was good, but avoid its sequel. And the 1978 Body Snatchers remains the best IMO. |
