i'd be screaming if i was being forced to listen to some of the shit being broadcast to the space shuttle! "come on eileen"? "good day sunshine"?!!? all played from that little old lady's personal collection. i'd go fucking mad! especially as the crew seem to be responding with country music!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!

so.....

...what cd would you take into orbit?

i'm packing "dubno..." nice and floaty for observing - then "cowgirl" for re-entry...

oi! excess baggage - you only get 1 disc - the rest of the space is taken up by ant experiments...

well, i dont want to be constantly enthralled at being up in outer friggin space all the time, so i need something good, but non-space to keep me doing what i'd be actually out there for.

hmm..

prefuse 73 - one word extinguisher

I think dub would be the perfect soundtrack for being out in space. Scientist defeats the evil vampire curse from outer spaceeeeee.

STFU Ian, "Come On Eileen" is class!! :D

I've read somewhere that the first song the crew listened to was Vertigo....

what was that horrible soundtrack for the "Lost in Space" movie??

;)

or if we're being serious - I'd like some beethoven. particularly if I was doing a spacewalk - that would be just amazing.

Come on...it's so obvious: "Dark Side of The Moon" by Pink Floyd! :p

Hmm...actually, i'm thinking of something spacey and suitably "out there". Maybe The Flaming Lips or "surrender" by The Chemical Brothers?

Beat me to it! Dark Side would have to accompany me into space.

However, I would take my iPod.........

Apart from Floyd, I would have to take Saltank - ST3.

An iPod mini would cost about $1000 to boost into space! Take a Shuffle instead!

My choice is Yoshihiro Sawasaki's "Perfumed Garden"

btw, no one suggested an mp3 cd yet....
but i will fall into line with the one stereo CD.

short occupation in orbit? [a month or two]
---> speedy j - ginger

a long long orbit? [a year or longer]
---> richie hawtin - concept 96 [the cd]
---------
secretly attempt to use a cargo pocket/bodily cavity to to smuggle a small case of 10 cds. without anyone noticing, this is my only solace for my three year orbit...

autechre - LP5
aphex twin - selected ambient works volume one
dopplereffekt - gesamtkunstwerk
richie hawtin - mixmag! live
speedy j - public energy number one

download - effector
bjork - vespertine
placebo - without you im nothing
gus gus - polydistortion
vangelis - blade runner soundtrack
---------
then, i realize that this music will be too inspirational to not have an outlet for creativity. when no one was even awake, i installed a "special communication device" ie, a laptop to assist in communcation with earth. my own personal "space" to compose music as i see fit.

i would be stupid not to try.

If double LPs count.... Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld. :D

I mean, come the fuck on... would listening to "Spanish Castles In Space" while looking down at Papua New Guinea from the ISS be fresh or what?!?!?!

EDIT: Well Leon beat me to it, but at least someone agrees... :D

Call me Captain Obvious, but I'm surprised nobody suggested Leftism.

The whole thing has a "floating about in space in a rusty-tin-can-of-a-spaceship" feel to me. (Maybe because I was reading Neuromancer when I bought it?)

Especially: Inspection (Check One).
